Mango Languages

Friday August 6th from 2-3pm

(1 hr)

Learn how to use one of Rhode Islands’ hottest new language tools and, best of all, it’s absolutely free! Mango Languages offers both basic conversational and complete language courses for over 20 languages and offers language courses for speakers of other languages who are learning ESL. Come see how to use this new, fun program and how to create an account to track your progress.

 

 

Advanced Gmail

Tuesday August 10nd  from 11-12:15

(1 hr and 15 minutes)

Now that you've created a Gmail account and learned how to send and receive e-mails, learn about some of Gmail's more advanced features such as utilizing folders to store and access old emails and using the address book.

* Prerequisites: Previous participation in our Introduction to Gmail class or some basic experience using a Gmail account.

 

 

Computers 102

Thursday August 12th  from 6-7:15

(1 hr and 15 minutes)

Now that you can open and close programs, well talk a little bit more about how to find things in your computer. We'll discuss how to find your way around in all the files and folders, how to save files and find them again, using copy and paste, and inserting a CD, DVD, or flash drive.

*Prerequisite: Ability to use a mouse and keyboard, open and close a program, and shut down a computer.

 


 

Google Tools You Can Use

Use Google for your web searches? Have you used G-mail for your email? Google offers lots of other great services such as Google Books where you can preview or read books online for free, Google Docs which allows you to store and edit documents online, or Google Reader that allows you to keep up with all your favorite websites from one screen. Come see what Google has to offer for you!

*Prerequisite: Ability to use the Internet’s more advanced functions (e-mail, viewing a website, browsing, and using search engines).

 

 

    Movies and Television on the Web

Thursday August 19th  from 6-7 PM

Did you know that many major networks put their broadcast shows on the Internet for viewing? Have you heard of Hulu but were afraid to check it out? In this class you will learn how you can use your computer or laptop to watch television and movies via the Internet.
*Prerequisite: Ability to use the Internet’s more advanced functions (e-mail, viewing a website, browsing, and using search engines).

Monday August 23th from 12-1:15pm

(1 hr and 15 minutes)

Are you feeling comfortable with the web but feel like you using it for more? Learn how to use the web in your daily life, from checking the weather to looking up phone numbers. We will also cover how to use search engines more effectively.

*Prerequisites: Ability to use the web for basic functions (e-mail, viewing a website)
